Creatura Mistica

In the heart of Palermo (Sicily, Italy) this Ficus Macrophylla appears as a living creature, bending and swaying its enormous roots. The mystic monument comes from the Norfolk Islands (South Pacific Ocean) and was planted in 1845. It originates from the rainforest, where its frame and aggressive roots wrap around nearby host trees and supplant them. Over time it has grown to the largest Ficus in Europe.
